Ammann and DEWALT Release Powerful Electric-Drive Compactors
Ammann and DEWALT have teamed up to introduce a new line of electric-drive compactors that deliver the same power as their gasoline-powered counterparts.
“Replicating the power provided by a traditional engine is always the goal when developing electric-drive products,” said Thiago Santos, Head of Used Equipment & Area Sales Mananger Light Equipment. “Customers want both sustainability and productivity, and that’s what they get with these light compactors.”
DEWALT power will be available for the Ammann eAPF 15/40 and eAPF 15/50 Forward Moving Vibratory Plate Compactors and the Ammann eATR 68 Rammer.
The eAPF15/40 and eAPF15/50 powered by DEWALT deliver a maximum frequency of 100 Hz, just like the petrol versions. The maximum centrifugal force for both is 15 kN. The eATR 68 has a maximum frequency of 11 Hz and an impact energy of 101 joules.
The machines use a Li-lon battery, which maximises safety. The batteries and their advanced management system are particularly robust and resistant to high temperatures, overcharging and mechanical damage.
The batteries are compatible with the Ammann e-drives and DEWALT machines and can be exchanged between them for convenience. They can also share chargers.
With the fast charger, the DEWALT battery can reach 80% capacity in 40 minutes and 100% capacity in an hour.
Electric-drive benefits
Contractors are increasingly turning to electric-drive machines. E-drives offer the following advantages:
Reducing the contractor's CO2 footprint – and releasing no emissions on the jobsite
Allowing contractors to bid on projects that require electric machines
Enabling work in confined spaces that have poor ventilation
Providing quiet operation on noise-sensitive construction sites, including residential areas
In addition to the e-drive benefits, DEWALT-powered light compactors provide numerous features that simplify operation:
Starting the machine is extremely user-friendly. The flip of one switch starts the rammer.
The compactors have two speeds, which are selected by the operator via a switch.
Exceptional design and technology ensure the superior performance of the plates and rammer.
Impact energy is transferred as compaction power into the ground.
Thoughtful engineering ensures exceptional balance that prevents tipping and delivers a host of operator benefits – including effortless guidance and precise control. The balance also spurs forward movement.
An innovative handle limits hand-arm vibration to protect the operator and improve comfort and productivity.
No tools are required for daily maintenance.
An easy-to-grip frame enables control and increases the productivity of inexperienced operators. It also allows for easy transport.
